We are delighted to announce that a new article from our colleagues at UNIPG and IRI UL, “Office Activity Taxonomy in the Digital Transition Era: Towards Situationally Aware Buildings“, by Martins Gnecco, V., Pogladič, A., Chiucchiù, A., Pigliautile, I., Arko, S., & Pisello, A. L., has been published in the journal Sustainability. The article explores how, as office environments are increasingly shaped by flexibility, technological integration, and occupant-centred design, Building Management Systems (BMS) and Digital Twins must evolve from static automation to adaptive frameworks that recognize and respond to diverse workplace activities and social interactions, and proposes a standardized taxonomy of office activities as a foundation for activity recognition and environment adaptation.
